Reaching The World
Gayle Russ was born in a small coal-mining community in Nelson Creek, KY on November 16, 1941. He attended Nelson Creek Baptist Church and was saved at the age of eleven. During his teenage years, he began writing and singing country and western songs. He spent his time working part-time at the local radio station, WMTA, which 47 years later is owned and operated by his church.
Upon completion of high school, he moved to Nashville, TN and attended Mid-South Electronics to continue his quest to be a radio announcer and country singer. In 1965, he moved his wife and six month old son to Evansville, IN in order to continue climbing the ladder of his professional career.
Back-slidden and away from God, he started attending a Fundamental church in Evansville, IN. It was here that God started working in his heart and life. During this time, Brother Russ organized the Tri-State Gospel Music Association. It featured local talent as well as nationally known groups.
In 1968, Gayle Russ answered the call to preach. He was licensed and ordained a short time there after and soon pastored a small local church. In March of 1972, Brother Gayle Russ founded Boeke Road Baptist Church. In 1977, he introduced technical training tapes for individual parts. These invaluable training tools are now used by nearly every major company in the music industry. Just two years later, Brother Russ founded Faith Music Missions. From 1977-1985, Brother Gayle Russ developed and marketed the Harmony Master ( a four track tape system designed to teach individual parts).
At sixty-three years of age, Gayle Russ now enjoys preaching and pastoring Boeke Road Baptist Church. He considers himself to be a man most blessed by his children and grandchildren.
